Kenneth Bloom, MD
Dr. Bloom has more than 30 years of clinical practice and business experience. He has been an early adopter and major proponent of information technology to revolutionize pathology and other areas of medicine. He is a prolific, world-renowned researcher and gifted lecturer in pathology, cancer, telemedicine, and informatics. Dr. Bloom’s expertise includes a deep understanding of a wide range of advanced technologies, which he brings to each of his roles.
Dr. Bloom currently serves as President of Human Longevity, Inc., founded by J. Craig Venter, where he is a developer and proprietor of the world’s largest and most comprehensive database of whole genome, phenotype, and associated clinical data. In this role, Dr. Bloom’s mission is to revolutionize the practice of medicine by continuing to develop and apply large scale computing and machine learning to make novel discoveries in the field for the benefit of the global population.
Dr. Bloom’s contributions to various fields of medicine and technology are too extensive to list here. He brings his vast business, technical, and clinical experience to TransMed7’s Advisory Board, accumulated while serving in major leadership roles, most recently with GE Healthcare as Chief Medical Officer, In Vitro Diagnostics Life Sciences. Dr. Bloom was also previously with Clarient Pathology Services as its President and CEO where he led overall development and execution of a novel business plan and scientific strategy. In this role, he formed a true pathology center of excellence, combining pathology expertise drawn from a widely recognized group of colleagues with advanced, streamlined, digital, on-line technical capabilities. This resulted in the provision of quick access to definitive diagnostic capabilities for centers around the world.
Dr. Bloom’s previous clinical positions include, among others, a Clinical Professorship of Pathology at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, and Associate Professor of Pathology at Rush Medical College.
Dr. Bloom received his Medical Doctor degree from Rush Medical College and his Bachelor of Arts degree from Grinnell College.
