Eugene H. Vetter
Mr. Vetter has over forty years of professional and corporate business experience along with extensive program management, engineering, and technical experience in the fields of scientific research and development, defense, energy, and advanced materials systems support. Mr. Vetter’s executive-level business expertise includes: direct management of mergers & acquisitions; global business development and marketing; cost and profit center management; finance and cash flow management; contracts management and administration including successful, high stakes proposal development; and organizational, facility and systems management.
Mr. Vetter has served in a variety of corporate leadership positions, as follows:
Magellan Systems International: As CEO and President, Mr. Vetter built a company based on advanced high strength fiber systems, working in cooperation with the U.S. Army and E. I. DuPont DeNemours Corporation, which purchased the company in 2006. Magellan entered into a strategic relationship with DuPont’s Advanced Fiber Systems group in 2002, securing DuPont investment as a minority shareholder of Magellan. In concert with DuPont, Mr. Vetter led the successful design and construction of a $30 Million USD pilot plant (market development facility) for production scale-up from laboratory scale. In addition, he led development of successful partnerships with a number of international government and aerospace industry entities, including Boeing, Northrop-Grumman, the French National Laboratory in Lille, France, North Carolina State University, the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Center, the U.S. Marine Corps Research Laboratory, Leeds and Durham Universities in England, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, the Center for Composite Materials (CCM), and Thiokol Corporation, among others. Mr. Vetter successfully presented Magellan’s technologies to members of the U.S. Congress, the Assistant Secretaries of the Army, Navy and Air Force for Research and Development, and subsequently the Title III Program Manager for the Department of Defense, providing individual briefings to both the House and Senate Armed Services Chairmen, and testifying before the House Armed Services Subcommittee in 2004.
Advanced Systems Technology, Inc.: As Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Vetter was responsible for overall operations, financial management, and business development of a multi-million dollar small business. He was personally responsible for generation of over $70 million in new U.S. Navy contracts, and was lead manager in the generation and negotiation of two $50 million Mentor-Protégé Agreements and other contract vehicles.
Integrated Systems Analysts, Inc.: As Vice President for Business Development, Mr. Vetter implemented long-term strategic plans for marketing and new business development, and led both new contract initiation and business training for Group, Operations Center and Business Unit Managers. As Vice President for Administration and Marketing, he structured, developed and maintained overhead budgets and developed standard operating procedures for four Eastern Operations Division cost centers and led Business, Management, Marketing and Proposal Development Training for operations personnel. As Operations Center Manager, he was responsible for management of an $18 million/year operations center within the Eastern Operations Divisions, using expertise developed from marketing, development, and management of several U.S. Navy programs. Mr. Vetter was the program manager for three major, successful contracts with the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) totaling over $18 million/year.
SEACOR, Inc., a Day & Zimmerman Company: Mr. Vetter held progressively responsible positions including Project Engineer, Program Manager, and Washington Operations Manager. As Program Manager of an Engineering Services and Technical Support contract, he managed development of a system which served as the prototype for all DD963 Class destroyer engineering procedures and casualty control procedures, with responsibilities as a Team Leader and principle company liaison with the Naval Ship Systems Engineering Station (NAVSSES) Philadelphia personnel in the direct application of the prototype EOSS/EOCC package to subsequent DD963 and DDG993 Class ships. In addition, Mr. Vetter managed a successful I,R&D project for a new propeller design for surface ships, submarines and water craft.
Mr. Vetter began his career as a U.S. Navy Surface Line Officer. He served as a Surface Warfare Officer School Instructor and as Navigator and Electrical Officer on the USS Oldendorf (DD972), qualifying as Command Duty Officer, Engineering Officer of the Watch, and Officer of the Deck. His engineering and technical experience includes naval engineering related to Propulsion Systems, Auxiliary Systems, Damage Control Systems, Combat Systems, Personnel Protection Systems, Corrosion Control Systems, Information Systems, Diving Systems, and Navigation Systems.
Mr. Vetter’s extensive systems engineering background and scientific R & D experience has contributed to numerous technology advancements, including medical technology. Mr. Vetter is First Named Inventor or Co-Inventor of multiple medical and other technologies granted U.S. and international patents.
Mr. Vetter received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Augustana College.
